Dedicated hosting is a hosting service that permits individuals or businesses to have full or near full access to pre-configured, state of the art equipment from a hosting service provider. This is different from a shared hosting plan, as instead of sharing the server resources, dedicated hosting gives you the opportunity to lease an entire server and all associated resources.

The equipment and connectivity are leased from the hosting provider, ensuring the customer/client their own customized web server. A dedicated hosting plan gives the user much more flexibility than shared hosting as they can choose their own operating system and hardware. Generally a hosting service provider will offer server administration for a small additional fee.
